Itochu Corp.

Strategic and Operational Planning

Challenge

Itochu Corp. is a Japanese trading company with over $180 billion in annual revenues. The corporation retained SageRiver Consulting to help manage the operations and performance of an international joint venture with a U.S.-based energy company.

Project

SageRiver assisted Itochu Corp.  with the start-up of a Denver office. The office was charged with monitoring their position in a $250 million joint venture with a major U.S. mining company. The project involved planning for the new business start-up, implementing strategic components of that plan and developing executive-level methods for monitoring the joint venture agreement, including a robust Board reporting package and communications process.

Results

The Denver office launched successfully and provided strategic communications among key leaders and stakeholders as non-operating partners in the joint venture.
