University of Colorado: School of Public Health
Strategy Development and Stakeholder Engagement
Challenge
The Public Health Institute within the University of Colorado's School of Public Health sought to graduate more students of color in the health professions. To achieve that aim, the Institute needed a strategy focused on reaching and engaging middle-school youth to generate greater awareness about future opportunities for them within the field.
Project
SageRiver designed and facilitated a series of strategy sessions to "bring to life" the Public Health Institute. As part of this effort, SageRiver completed an environmental scan that revealed numerous opportunities for the Institute. SageRiver then collaborated with stakeholders to establish their vision, mission and values, as well as their strategies and SMART goals and objectives.
Results
The resulting strategic plan enabled the organization to effectively align its energies and resources to build the Public Health Institute and meet its mission of engaging youth of color in health professions.
