PEMEX
IT Strategy and Communications Planning
Challenge
Mexico's state-owned petroleum company, PEMEX, chartered a new subsidiary, PMI - North America (PMI), to manage its joint venture position in a large U.S.-based oil refinery. Ensuring accurate information on refinery operations was imperative for PMI, as the non-operating partner in the joint venture.
Project
PEMEX charged SageRiver Consulting with designing and implementing an executive information system to enable PMI's senior leaders to monitor refinery operations. At the time, PMI was a new subsidiary located in Texas, so our efforts were from the ground up, including:
- Designing and installing the technical infrastructure required to share information and communicate with their parent company in Mexico City
- Developing several custom inventory monitoring and reporting modules
- Designing and developing an executive information system from the modules
- Integrating the custom modules with the platinum financials selected and implemented on site
Results
The initiative resulted in effective management and executive-level information that enabled leadership decision making in the joint venture.
